The Seattle Community Colleges are meeting the training needs of companies and organizations throughout the world.
Seattle Community Colleges have provided training to more than 15,000 participants from more than 50 countries. The Seattle Community Colleges have the expertise and flexibility to deliver a wide variety of programs. Programs may include such options as English language training, technical content, accommodations, test preparation and institutional testing internships, site visits, sightseeing and other experiential activities.
Highlights of some of our District's unique capabilities and programs
Certificate Programs and Training
The following training programs are available as credit-bearing certificate programs. Each can be adapted for groups for duration and start dates.
>> Internships
The Seattle Community Colleges have close ties to the greater Seattle business community which provides outstanding opportunities for internships. Sites for internships have included: US Department of Commerce; Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development; Washington State International Trade Fair; Japan-America Society of Washington; World Affairs Council; Da Vinci Corporation; Small Business Development Center; Port of Seattle; Washington Council on International Trade; K-2 Corporation; Frank Russell Company/Tacoma; Interpoint Corporation; Costco Corporation; and Allied Signal Corporation. With appropriate lead time, other sites can be developed.
>> English Language
The Seattle Community Colleges have excellent English programs for individual students and professionals or short-term "study tour" groups. At North Seattle, Seattle Central and South Seattle, students take intensive English and academic preparation courses to prepare for college. Study Tour groups can request a specially customized curriculum and other program options to fit their needs at any of the campuses.
>> International Student Services
The Seattle Community Colleges have outstanding services for international students including cultural and academic orientation programs, educational and career planning, admission and immigration services, housing assistance or placement, airport pickup, trips and activities, testing, and other programs.
>> Other International Programs and Affiliations
In addition to serving international students at our campuses, the Seattle Community Colleges have relationships with several institutions abroad to facilitate Study Abroad, Faculty Exchange, and other collaborative efforts. The Colleges are members of international organizations such as the National Association of Foreign Student Advisers (NAFSA); Association of International Educators; Institute for International Education (IIE); Community Colleges for International Development (CCID); Seattle Sister City Association; AMIDEAST; the World Affairs Council; Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL); American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP); and others.
