Opportunities for a
Life-changing Experience

Volunteers will travel to Vietnam, Peru and Tanzania this summer as participants in Global Impact, a Seattle Community Colleges service learning program presented in partnership with Seattle-area medical, education and service organizations. The program offers students, faculty, health care professionals and other community members the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people in developing countries by providing healthcare and other volunteer services. In return, participants find themselves changed by the experience.

Programs for 2008 include Vietnam, Peru and Tanzania. Physicians and nurses are still needed for both Peru and Vietnam destinations, and dentists and dental hygienists are needed for Peru. Letters of invitation from physician leaders of these programs are at http://www.seattlecolleges.edu/global impact

Global Impact was inspired by the international programs of the Seattle Community Colleges, which serve students from more than 100 countries around the world; by the region’s leadership in health care; and by the health care education focus of the colleges, whose combined programs comprise the largest health care education provider in the region. “These elements provide the foundation for taking our education programs to the next level of development and significance,” according to Global Impact program administrator Dr. Andrea Insley, district-wide coordinator of International Programs.
